The install might change a few links (ie /usr/bin/soffice) but I can't
recall. Worst case you will need to remove/re-install OOo.
I have had users report that they are unable to open Acrobat files (i.e.
.pdf files) but I don't see a problem doing from the Nautilus file
explorer myself. I think they are seeing the problem from Firefox...
This sounds like it could be a plugin issue - check that it has been
installed:
# ln -s /usr/lib/AdobeReader/Browser/sparcsolaris/nppdf.so
/path/to/firefox/plugins

When we install OpenOffice.org on our Sun Ray servers we typically
remove the StarOffice icons and edit
/usr/share/applications/star.desktop to reflect OOo. We haven't had
any issues doing it this way.
In your earlier note you asked about Acrobat - is that file
association broken also?

I am doing some Gnome reading about the mime database, etc. to see if
I can't figure this out.
Does anyone know if file associations can be controlled through the
Sun Desktop manager?

I have a simple Sun Ray configuration with two Sun Ray servers.
Both are running Solaris 10 11/06 with the latest patch cluster
installed through October.
Does anyone on this list have experience or know-how for setting up
file associations for JDS on a *global *basis for a server? I
would like a method by which I can setup all of the file extensions
and associate them with specific applications (i.e. OpenOffice,
Acroread, etc) for both of my Sun Ray servers so that my users can
just double-click on these file icons in the File Browser window
and the proper application will automatically open the file.
Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.
