I can sort of understand why Oracle may not want to persist with Sun Ray. If PCs are low margin, I'd imagine a Sun Ray isn't great either. There is likely not much money to made on the actual hardware. Perhaps there is on selling servers to serve the Sun Rays, but that could just as easy be a box from Dell. Maybe there is on the service contracts too, but we never needed service really, it's just too easy.
If you're wanting to make money on service contracts, you'd better make sure your system is a real pain in the ass, so companies will not hesitate to sign. Good, cheap, and reliable is not very profitable. Currently I'm checking out the AXEL AX3000 clients as an alternative. Looking very promising, I must say.
