- Forget about the SunRay for a moment: does the smartcard work when
connecting from a PC using the MS RDP client to the WTS? Maybe a dumb question
but I had to ask. If it does not work, than the WTS needs the right
card-reading SW [or an updated version].

- If it does work vi MS RDP, do you perhaps need a specialized config file for
that card in /etc/opt/SUNWut/smartcard? I use a card type that wasn't included
in the default set of config files and a Sun person was kind enough to write
one for me. I see it listed when I run "utcard -l".

usbdrived uses -r disk ... -r disk and -r scard:on behaves like a RDP Client,
while -r usb:on sends the device locally to WTS2008 R2 so it should appear as
"found new device, installing driver or so ...".

But cannot recommend that with WTS2008r2 as all sessions see the new device,
thats why we also use usbdrived and -r disk for usb mass storage. and you need
some software installed on the wts, which you find in the srs add ons
directory, what I can remember. This is the point where we stopped, no software
install on the wts.

Thanks Thomas,

I will give that a go.  I am using the usbdrived script to pass through USB
mass storage devices.  I assume putting the "-r usb:on" won't affect that?

to pass through you need -r usb:on (which passes any detected usb device
through), -r scard:on enables the smart card reader of the sun ray for a RDP
session.

Hi Deyrick,

Thanks for your response.  The PC/SC layer is incorporated into the SRS install
itself with SRS 5.3.1 and the documentation says that I just needed to install
the CCID Handler.  Are you saying that I need to enable "scard:on" for the
uttsc command to pass through the external smart card reader?

Regards,

Simon

Not sure if this helps think the issue is to install the pcsc layer first so
the smartcard reader gets attached.

Subject: [SunRay-Users] Gemalto smart card reader

Hi All,

Has anyone managed to get the Gemalto ID Bridge CT30 smart card reader working
when attached to a Sunray and passed through to a Windows 2008 R2 TS kiosk
session?  I have followed the instructions for SRS 5.3.1 to add the CCID
handler v1.3 from the SRS 5.1.1. media pack and the Drivers for the smart card
reader are installed on the 2008 Rs TS but the smart card reader is still not
being passed through to the Windows TS session.

Thanks in advance

Simon
