Hi First of all thanks for advice prior to my upgrade purchase. Now for some more questions! The NewerTech MaxPowr 300mhz processor slipped in easily and I was up and running straight away, but I don't really understand the control panel, the bus speed registers as 46Mhz whereas before it was 50Mhz. I can't seem to change any of the settings such as 'write through' and all that jazz. I'm aware that I'm probably best off leaving the settings as default but I do like to know if it's all working OK. Also the only part I do seem to be able to change is the menu regarding 'CPU divided by (1-4)', what does this do? Additionally on the card itself is a set of four (I think) dip switches. I presume this is where you can overclock the card, I can't find any info on these switches, their positions or functions anywhere on the internet. Can anyone enlighten me on this? The only slight problem I saw was a slow redraw (ie blank desktop areas) when I opened a more than 2 apps at once. My setup s900, 128mb RAM, ATI Rage II (slot 2), belkin 2 port USB 1.1 card (slot 1). Which brings me nicely to my next problem, slots. The USB card only seems to be recognized by Apple System profiler in slot 1, and while I don't really mind it being there I thought it should work in the lower slots, but nothing. I haven't tried moving the ATI card about but I have pressed the CUDA switch. I plugged a Jenoptik USB card reader into the port, and nothing. As far as I understood I didn't need any special software, however the Jenoptik website did have a driver download for Macs, all I got when it unzipped was a document too large to be opened by simpletext??? Not much use to me. I'd like to get a digital camera up and running but without a working USB card theres not much chance.
Any help, as always, on anything, gratefully appreciated. Phil -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
