I've been contemplating this again for a few weeks since my hard drive up
and died.

Running on another Maxtor, I haven't had this error once. Nor have I had
the other few application freezes I was experiencing. I am 99% certain that
those freezes were related to a failing hard drive, figuring that when the
head reached that point on the drive where the app resided, it froze.

But what I'm wondering is, if the infamous corrupted 'Apple Menu Options
Prefs' after running a utility scan may somehow be symptomatic of a hard
drive that is experiencing problems?

So to weed this one out as a possibility, I would like to ask if others who
had experienced the corrupted 'Apple Menu Options' prefs issue, anytime soon
after had a failed drive?
