Well just back from a two week trip and found my new USB 2.0, 5-port card
waiting for me. I ordered it before my trip cause OSX absolutely hated my
other usb 1.1 card. Absolute repeated crashes. I also could not use my
Global Village 56k v90 USB modem. Thanks to a tip from Will, I picked up an
Iogear card at Buy.com for a good price. Installed the card when I got back
which seems to play just fine with Jaguar.

However, I still cannot make any connection to my modem. I've gone through
the Network connection prefs and have everything filled in properly (I
think). I've tried a few different scripts but still it just won't dial.
In OS 9.1, GV had a Control Panel named "GlobalFax Controls" where you could
'reset' the modem. What about Modem Init Strings? Is there anything
similar available/needed in OSX for either? Is there an OSX Global Village
App Update out there? There was a fix for OS 9 but don't know about X?

I guess for those on the list who are using a GV 56k USB modem with OSX,
How'd you get it to work? I get no modem activity lights or connection of
any kind. Unfortunately Remote Access isn't supported by Classic either so
I have to completely restart any time I want to connect to the net.
Anyway, any help is appreciated. By chance is there also a fix to enable
Classic Support for Remote Access? This could be a fallback in case the
modem won't work in X.

Kim, I remember you had this modem, but I can't remember if you've leaped to
X yet? Please, just don't tell me the modem isn't compatible. :(

BTW, had a smooth install of 10.1 and then Jaguar 10.2. May do 10.2.8
soon... Thanks Dave
