well Moz or Firebird, Thunderbird, the "Mail Daemon Replacement"do all this :p BeOS R4.5 is far more outdated than BeOS R5.
Gobe make a good office tool, Abiword has been ported... There"s some very good vid�o editing tool, and audio too... R5 do all my needs without any problems. I don't try to say Mac OS is not good :p But videos run so much well under BeOS with Videolan with only 128 Mo and 2x200 mhz...
