I've been using a Tempo ATA 66 card for several years without any problems. Plug-n-play from day-1 in a s900 in slot 2. My record shows I downloaded and updated the firmware in January. (3.2.1, "Update 6260.) but only after I became aware of the update.
On a side note, I stopped using Norton in favor of DiskWarrior. The automatic scanning (?) and reporting features of Norton was very annoying and troublesome and I had disabled the related extensions before going to DW. The routine since has been regular maintenance with DW and Optimizer.
