There is an older Apple CD-ROM driver that does work without hacking it. It's available on Apple's download pages. Look for CD-ROM Driver version D2-5.3.1 and I have had good luck using it with the CD-ROM's in clones. At one point Apple decided to remove support for non-Apple CD-ROM drives - go figure.....this is a driver for pre-OS 8. The only problem I've ever had using the old driver is burned CD's do not show on the desktop always.
Also, someone on the list mentioned using matched pairs of RAM in slot A1 & B1, etc. which is called "interleaving" the RAM and it does help except if you have a CPU upgrade. Sonnet suggests de-interleaving RAM as preparation to installing a G3 or G4 card. I have several pairs of 5 volt 32MB and a few pairs of 16MB & 8MB I listed on the swap list with no takers, so if anyone is looking for RAM email me and I'll give you a deal on some or all of it. It's been tested and guaranteed working. Ron -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
