Hi folks
I've had an S900 running as a mySQL server for about 2 years now, mostly uneventfully. It crashes now and again, and I usually just restart with option down, then XPostFacto it back to normal.
Early his morning it went down (it stopped serving, clock stopped moving, but monitor still displayed properly) and when I rebooted it had the dreaded black screen. I did the usual - first, tried rebooting into 9, and when that didn't work I pulled the power and PRAM battery, reset cuda, waited 15 min, reset cuda, replaced battery, plugged it back in, and restarted with an immediate zap PRAM.
Still black.
After 4 hours of attempts to get it running correctly, I just threw the HD on a a beige G3 that I've been doing some development on. So the services it carried are back up and running, but the S900 is not.
I also tried booting off of various OS9 CDs, with no luck there either.
I'm a little sleep deprived at this point, so I may not be thinking clearly. What other tricks should I try to get this reset to a useable condition?
