Bervin, Paul, The 1.4.1 download is called "USB Card Support," and includes [the then current] drivers for Macs without on-board USB ports. This is only for OS 8.5 thru 9.x. [Mac OS 9.2.x has this built-in, but there's no conflict if the old package is still there after an upgrade.] Mac OS X 10.2+ has this built in since all the newer PBs and iBooks show the USB hub as attached to the PCI bus. It is possible to apply the later versions of the drivers over the USB Card Support group--which is what I have done--and this greatly improves compatibility and performance. It requires a bit of care, though, since there are several separate files in the "Extensions" folder that need to be in synch: "HID Library", "SerialShimLib", "USB Device Extension", and [this can be removed, but needs to be part of the same version group if included] "USB Software Locator".
