I think OS X (CUPS) and XP can do it w/o the Postscript option, but OS 9 I do not think will work w/o special drivers which I am not sure Samsung has.
My old Epson 850NE with Ethernet works great too and there were drivers available for OS 9 & XP and it works under OS X w/CUPS driver.
My new Brother MFC-3820 works as a printer over the network for OS 9, X, XP and via USB for OS X (haven't tried the other combos) and was $100. Color quality is not that great though.
