The 8600 uses the same RAM installation guildelines as our S900s but
without the 16MB on the motherboard. Max installable RAM is 1024 MB
in the form of eight 128 MB DIMMs.
Interleaving should yield somewhat better performance, but some folks
find better stability with RAM deinterleaved. Personally, I believe
that if your RAM won't work properly interleaved, then there's
something defective in the RAM of the CPU card--possibly something
subtle, but it should work.
Also the PowerForce for PCI 900Mhz G3 upgrade I purchased is stated to
work with OS9.1 max.
Can any one tell me from experience if this is true and it won't install on
OS9.2.2 or OS9.2?
No experience here, but the machines in which the PF PCI G3/900
installs are not officially supported beyond 9.1. In order to
install 9.2.x in those machines with *any* CPU card you'll need OS9
Helper or whatever it is called. So, while I can't say for certain
that it will work, I would not assume that such a negative note is
definitive given the hacks available.
