Perhaps something wrong in the headers - per exemple no "Date:" entry.
Maybe a peek at one of the messages using View | Message Source would reveal the transmital info and show where there was a discontinuity.

As Mark Hansen mentions unix reports time differently. If so, then a default "before time" could happen under a misfunctioning linix/unix/zenix etc smtp or pop3 server.
