  211 - the NNTP response code for "newsgroup selected ok"
37385 - an estimate of the number of articles in the group

Which on many nntp servers will just be the difference between the high and low article numbers plus one. Some do better at counting, and some do better depending on which storage algorithm is used.

    2 - the article number of the oldest post
37386 - the article number of the youngest post

That's all the info that's available from the server.  Servers don't do
much to make sure the estimate is right;  if you've been downloading
messages from the start, your 37227 is probably much closer to correct.
