Why would you have cookies that survive for months?

I have some cookies for years. Why? So I don't have to go through the
login process every time I go to those sites.

Set SM to purge all cookies on shutdown ("accept cookies for current
session only"), and you'll start every session fresh.

..and re-login... ;-)

In fact, I have a system set up that KEEPS my cookies set and only changes them
when I want them changed.

How that "bad cookie" got in there, I don't know. Probably was already there,
unbeknownst to me, when I fixed the cookies by my 'secret' proprietary method -
A batch file that runs when I start SM and loads a 'fixed' cookies.txt and then
starts up SM. Every now and then I change the archived cookies.txt if I need
to.

I can't control very much, but I try....

by not allowing sober people to own cars.
