I'm on a 64bit WIN 7 Ultimate system. I just downloaded the SM 2.3.1 program binary from www.seamonky-project.org and ran the installer exe. (after a full backup of the profile and program folders)
Sounds like a good idea (backup), but should not have been necessary unless you plan to go back to an earlier version [not recommended]
The installer ran in a flash, and now I'm supposedly at SM 2.3.1
The installer only updates your install itself, not the profile. It will also update the normal links to SeaMonkey from your desktop/start menu if you select those choices.
But I'm curious and just a bit apprehensive. Did that upgrade installation carry out all those profile conversions that were discussed and argued about here, such as the bookmarks database conversion et.c. ?
The first run of SeaMonkey 2.3.1 will do the necessary profile "upgrades" automatically, it should be mostly unnoticeable by you. But if you have a lot of bookmarks it may take a while on first launch. Subsequent launches should appear much faster.
I need reassurance :-)
I hope that helped. -- ~Justin Wood (Callek) _______________________________________________ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
