I'm getting reminders from long dismissed calendar items when I start Seamonkey.
Dozens of them, and neither "dismiss all" or "dismiss" will remove them from my
screen. This started with 2.0.14, and persisted through 2.7.2. I have gone as
far as I am willing on "try the next version, that will fix it" and would like
some advice on actually addressing the issue.

Unwilling to move to 2.8 until add-on updates are available for stuff I use all
the time.

*More info:* These reminders are in my Google calendar. So it appears that
Lightning is not doing anything useful, when the DISMISS or [DISMISS ALL]
options are used, the alerts remain on the screen, and show up every time SM is
started.

I have filed Bug 741190 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=741190) on
this, requesting an option to ignore overdue alerts from read-only calendars.

And the resolution is "turn off reminders on remote calendars." The fact that it makes the remote calendar pretty useless for getting you to meetings and such is irrelevant, I guess.

I want to think about this before putting in an RFE, my current thinking is that the ideal solution is to ignore outdated alerts, and fake DISMISS without modifying the read-only calendar. I can think of several ways to do that, but all involve a developer who thinks it's worth doing.

I think it's important, having a shared department calendar (or family, or club, or ...) is a huge win, not having alerts really drops the utility. Making the calendar writable would silence the alert for all users, I think.

If anyone has ideas on this, please reply here, if I'm going to suggest a way or ways to address the problem, I would like to ask for something which solves the problem and isn't a huge amount of work.
