That is an option if...
a) You don't hate webmail with a passion
b) You have just one account to check.
This is why i use pop.
and i use https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#settings/fwdandpop for
deleting or not on the gmail server.
I read email en news with imap en do sendmail with smtp
