I have no idea at whom Thimble is aimed (nor does the blurb say)
but I was dumbstruck when I clicked on "event", hoping to associate
an "onload" handler with my <body> element, and was then invited to :

Create Your Own Event -- Step 1 of 3

Choose the country where your event will take place:
Enter the postal/zip code where your event will take place:
What type of event should I select?
Hack Jam Make something! Team up to transform your ideas into real world
solutions. This is also what to select for a Game Jam.
Kitchen Table Learn with friends. Teach each other how to learn things around
your kitchen table.
Pop Up Throw a learning party! Grow a network in your city by inviting local
groups to play and learn together.

from which I can only assume that Thimble is targetted
at the kindergarten generation rather than anyone with
a serious interest in developing material for the Web.

Could be targeted at the kindergarten generation. I don't see anything referring to JavaScript on the site. Only HTML and CSS.

Does John's site use JavaScript?
