Normally when the profile is "lost" after an update or other change it
is not really lost, it only is no longer correctly linked.
Because of the silly random name, it has to be correctly linked via
a profiles.ini file that contains the actual name of the profile. When
that file is lost and re-created, the profile appears "lost" but
really isn't.

I always replace the profiles.ini by a file that has a fixed name for
the profile. That way it is easier to write scripts that do maintenance
on the profile, either locally on the computer or on the server where
roaming profiles are stored. And the profile is not so easily "lost".
