type "me" in address location (without quotes), knowing full-well I
am the ONLY "me" in my address book.

Not only does my address not come up as the first in the auto-complete
list of choices, but the first choice doesn't even start with the
letters "me".

wth?

Anyone else?

On my system, if I begin typing "me," I get a list of candidates all
containing the string "me" in their name or email address. As luck would
have it, none /begin/ with that string, but they all /contain/ it.

Thus, if I had you in my address book and began by typing "Welsh," your
entry would be among those offered. I think that's good, because if I
have a couple of dozen "Johns," it's easier to select by last name.

Well they used to, and should start, with "me", if you type "me". Luck
should not be involved, only logic.

"Luck" just means a logic you don't approve. I find the current logic (matching any part of the name or address) useful, and that's why I said so. I hope they don't "fix" it.

One thing I don't like (separate issue) is that if I have a nickname that matches the beginning of one of my other correspondents' names, the nickname has no priority. The matches are sorted alphabetically, so if I just type the nickname and hit Enter, whatever happens to be first in the list is what SM enters. Nicknames that are unique or that don't match the /beginning/ of another name are prioritized over matches in the middle of the other names and addresses, so they work fine.
