It's curious, yes.

I don't follow the security bulletins very closely, but it's entirely
possible that a new security issue (affecting Java 7 update 51
inclusive) has come to light recently.

If this has in fact happened, Mozilla is right in listing J7u51 as
"vulnerable". But where the page fail is in suggesting there is an
update when Oracle has not released one yet.

The problem is that the plugincheck page apparently has only two states
for known plugins -- "up to date" and "vulnerable". It does not have the
ability to list a plugin as "vulnerable, no update available, best
remedy is to disable the plugin." Perhaps it should.

I wonder why it lists several fairly common plugins, such as Google
Update, Google Talk Video Renderer and Microsoft Office as "unknown."
One would think that by now someone would have figured who is supplying
those. Perhaps those plugins simply don't offer a convenient way to
check versions
