Because I have a Slash-dot account for use if I want to post a comment
there, my user ID and password are saved by SeaMonkey's Pasword Manager.

I visit <http://slashdot.org/>. The Stop button reverts to disabled,
and the throbber stops its activity. The Password Manager requests my
master password. I cancel the dialogue popup because I am not planning
on posting a comment. Less than a minute later, the Stop button is
enabled; and the throbber resumes activity.

Note that Slash-dot's login is via a script. The login dialogue is
hidden until a user selects the Login link near the right end of the
navigation bar at the top of the page.

I do not see the problem if JavaScript is disabled before selecting the
<http://slashdot.org/> link.

While many tributes to the late Supreme Court Associate Justice
Antonin Scalia now fill the news media, his legacy was not
necessarily positive. See my "What Price Order, Mr. Justice Scalia?"
