Hi Ed, I am not a techy. I don't know what safe mode is and am not sure what
you mean by a new profile.

Steve, as we go along, we can add various add-ons to SeaMonkey to make it better do what we want. Have a look at Tools->Add-On Manager to see if you have installed such things. I currently have about twenty Add Ons installed and about ten Extension, all to make SeaMonkey do what I want .... well, sort of!!

When we install a new version, sometimes there are conflicts. This can often be sorted by selecting Help->Restart with Add-Ons disabled. This means that when SeaMonkey re-starts, it will just be a Bare-bones version of SeaMonkey. If SeaMonkey then works (in its plain vanilla mode), then you can turn back on, say, half the Add-Ons and re-start SeaMonkey and see if it works. If it does, then enable more Add-Ons and re-start SeaMonkey, until you find the dude!!

Alternatively, your problem may be with your profile itself. This can, usually, be fixed by producing a new Profile by selecting Tools->Switch Profiles and the "Manage Profiles" -> "Create Profile" and follow the screens to set up a new Profile.

When you re-start SeaMonkey, it will be using this bare-bones Profile and you will need to add those Add-Ons that you require!
