My organization certainly doesn't have elaborate requirements of our media
database, but I have successfully used ebase for that purpose. All I did was
create a new record type "Med" (for media, obviously) and then made a checkbox
field (similar to the affiliations field in the Bio screen, but I put it on
screen 2 of the Data Entry screen) to denote type (ie, alternative media, TV,
weekly paper, daily paper, etc).

The only thing that complicates matters is that I still maintain a parallel
list in WinFax (for faxing press releases) so I have to remember to update
records in both locations.
