Re Ted Fickes queries about FMPro reference material - I agree that FMPro
skills are essential to effectively using ebase. Eric Troedsson recently
recommended the book "Scriptology" by Osborne and Petrowsky which I am going
to try to find at the local bookstore. I have the Filemaker Bible but it
doesn't seem to be much better than the Filemaker Manual which is reasonably
helpful.
For a short simple online tutorial on FMPro basics, you might want to look
at Filemaking 101 at ZD Net under the path: Help & How to/Software/Filemaker
Pro/Filemaking 101. I think the references are to Version 5.
Which brings up the question: Is now a good time to upgrade from Version 4
or earlier to Ver 5? It seems that ebase version 2 will require FMPro
Version 5 and I note at the Filemaker site that a $50 rebate coupon is
available until December 31. But, often after promotion like this, the next
version appears on the scene. Is there any reason to believe that FMPro
version 6 will be out in 2001?
