How to use DUES in payments is a big issue for many in understanding eBase.

What your org calls your ask is irrelevant, in ebase the choice of "dues" in
payments triggers a timed "expiration" based on date. Choosing anything else
does not.

So any regular recurring ask based on duration from last gift is most easily
called DUES in eBase (thought if you really hate using dues for a recurring
contribution, I suppose you could track down the scripts and change what the
trigger is called but it is more work than it is probably worth)

Anything but "dues" is viewed as a one time item. So if you want to ask
again in a year call it dues, if you want to say thank you and forget it,
call it what you will other than dues. If you want to consider it a "one
time gift" call it anything but dues.

As far as reports go - it is often not useful to have a report that goes
back more than a few years, but eBase can report on all of the data in the
database no matter how far back from custom reports that you design. For
more information on designing layouts for reports and using Finds to
populate them see the FileMaker User's Guide.
