This is actually related to Karin's question, which is how to find people
who have certain contact records. Her question was:
"3) How can I call back up a found set that has gotten a contact record for
a mailing? So far I can only call up a group associated with a source code
if it is associated with a payment. For example, I sent out a fall appeal
mailing. Each record that got the mailing got a contact record for it. I
want to print out a list of this mailing but when I do a query on the donor
screen, putting the source code in, it brings up payments entered for that
source code."

I have an answer to this, and a question. I have searched for contact
records by going to the contacts tab, then hitting the "view contacts" tab,
and then using the tools "find" tab to search on source code for the SC I
associated with the contact record. This will bring up all of the contact
records for that source code. Then I thought I'd use that handy "transfer to
names" tab to get back to the names records.

My question is this - when i use the transfer to names tab, instead of
transferring to the desired names, a "replace" window pops up, and it says
"permanently replace the contents of the field 'FoundSetKey' in the ##
records of the current found set?", and then i can either "replace with ""
", or "replace with serial numbers", or a "calculated result."
If i hit cancel on the window, the another filemaker pro window pops up
saying "no records match this request." And then I have two options, either
modify, or continue. Hitting continue just takes me back to general names,
(that is, not the ones I sorted by contact record), but hitting modify
brings up a whole other layout screen, which says at the top:
"This layout will never be seen by the user but is needed for the "640 -
Update Household Names List" script (and others). DO NOT DELETE IT!!!"

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a quirk with the transfer names
button, or is there something in the search process i described above that
is tripping up the circuits somewhere in the vast machinery of the database?
Cheers
