Amy,

I'm just a (somewhat) knowledgeable user from the listserv, but I've
worked a little with ebase on development of Version 2, and am very
committed to ebase and the idea of non-profits helping non-profits.

I don't think using Ctrl-7 is the problem, and as for the formatting of
portals, I know nothing but will explore as I get free time to see what
I can figure out.

I had a similar problem with a "client" with whom I was helping import
data. In this case, payments entered weren't getting attached to the
names. The problem was evident when I entered a payment. The name of
the person from whose record I'd clicked the Add Payment button was NOT
showing up on the Payment Entry screen as it should. This was a BIG
clue, so look for that. Dave Shaw helped me work this out.

Turns out the person's record number is pasted to the Clipboard file
when a payment is added, and then copied from that file into the Payment
entry screen to make the relationship work. But, in converting files
from the ebase template (FMP 4.0) to FMP 5.0, the Clipboard file got
damaged and the relationship lost. We fixed that relationship (ask Dave
about this, as I don't recall the exact steps and am under pressure on
some or our issue work here in NH - no time to explore right now) and
everything worked fine.

Hope this helps.

Carl
