John,

You shouldn't lose any values if all you do is cut and paste the existing values into different orders in the value list. Filemaker doesn't care what order the values are in. To be safe, make a backup and try it.

I have a value list to indicate the type of member--there are several.

The value list appears as a dropdown box and I'd like to change the sequence of categories from top to bottom with the most frequent at the top and so on. If I move them around, will I lose existing entries in that category? That would be a disaster. If I would lose the existing entries, is there some process I can follow to change the sequence and restore the records to the proper category?

In the contact by field, the default appears to be UNK. Yet, UNK does not appear on the associated value list (as far as I can tell). I'd like to make email the default and remove UNK. How can I do this?
