FWIW, here's my notes on the process: http://www.pfsense.org/~billm/enc(4)_notes.txt I did find the code (I can't easily make a patch right this second because that source tree also has my altq queues work in it) - if there is any interest on finishing it, I'd be more than willing to make a patch available.
