Are you just trying to change the look of pfsense? If so you can do this in the current build with themes. Youll want to SFTP over to the server and browse to /usr/local/www/themes (your SFTP login is "root" - your password is the password you set in the GUI )
Just download one of the existing themes and then upload your changes under a new folder. You can switch the theme in your SYSTEM GENERAL SETUP You can then "Brand" it for the property you are working for. Yeah, unless you're an existing committer, you have no access to git just yet. It's firewalled off from the world until it's less of a test case and more production ready.
