For the sake of providing further information about this issue from a bit ago in case it's useful to anyone...
I've now also seen this same issue with pfSense 1.2.2 of only one interface being visible in the installer when using an add-in 3C905B-TX card (xl) and an on-board Broadcom adapter (bge).
