You have to be careful with USB<-->Serial adapters. Many will actually close communications after a period of time due to USB timeout or some other <can't think of the name right now> issue with timing and the bus. If your use is some quick console work, the ones you show should work well. But, if you ever intend on leaving a port open for an extended amount of time, you may wish to look for the ones made by Tripp Lite. I've been using these with 100% success for some time now: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=tripp+lite+usb+serial+u209-000-r&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=14712541074173413013&ei=T_xSTPb4JYbQngeFqfyMAw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDsQ8wIwAg# My initial testing/finding of the USB/Serial issues came from my usage of an RS232 connected GPS receiver that would stop working after 20 minutes. :-/ Just my $0.02. --Tim --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected] Commercial support available - https://portal.pfsense.org
