Is it too late to get the RFC changed? This is a bad choice of error message text on two grounds:

1) the name is not necessarily a host name (it is an MX in email terms);
2) text similar to this is used by BIND libraries to indicate not in DNS.

"domain-not-served-by-us" would be a better short description.
