If there is a work around solution to the problem, please let me know because I'd really like to use the Pidgin service.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, Pidgin is not really specific about what is causing this
issue. I have already looked at the source code and I found several
possible reasons that can lead to this error message.

Please get a debug log and post it here. (You can create a debug log by
opening the debug window (in the Help menu) and copying what appears in
that window while you try to connect to Google Talk.) Make sure to
remove any information from the log that you don't want to make public.
You should also disconnect any other account before you start logging to
prevent pollution of your log with unnecessary information.

It was trying to connect for a few minutes after I enabled the gmail
account, then this error occurred (as attached)

No, didn't work.
Please see my attached pic of settings for the account.
The other accounts (non-gmail) are working perfectly fine. I am also on
Win 7 x64.

Please help analyze.

Thanks.

Are you sure that you have entered everything correctly? (many people
manage to find wrong ways of filling in that dialog.)

You need to put napakorn.athakasehm in the username field.
In the domain field, you put gmail.com. The rest can stay as it is.

If you still can't connect, there might be a firewall involved.

If you're sure it's neither a firewall issue nor caused by wrong input,
please write back.

Thank you. I get the idea.
Yeah, somehow I still couldn't connect to my 2 google talk accounts.
Would you pls help and advice?
It keeps attempting to reconnect, despite the fact that all info has
been correctly input.

Thank you again. I hope you can help me out.

Regards.

This is by design. GoogleTalk uses XMPP like all other XMPP services
(e.g. jabber.org, jabber.cz, gmx.net, ...). The GoogleTalk option was
only added because some people mistakenly thought that GoogleTalk was
not supported by Pidgin. Are you having trouble with connecting to
GoogleTalk?

Cheers,
ChO2

Hi,

Whenever I try to add a Google Talk account, after entering all info,
the PROTOCOL field won't stay "Google Talk" as selected. Instead, it
ALWAYS changes to "XMPP"! I tried so many times but Pidgin did the same
thing. Pls help/advise.

Thanks so much!
