ANTV Denies Report on Merger With TVOne The Jakarta Globe, Tuesday, 20 January 2009
We at ANTV strongly deny a report carried by the Jakarta Globe on Monday, Jan. 12, titled “Bakrie Group’s ANTV and TVOne Stations May Soon Merge.” ANTV has no plan whatsoever to merge with any other television station. The frequency license given to PT Cakrawala Andalas Televisi for ANTV’s broadcasting rights is in the public domain and must be used with full responsibility and not wasted by being merged or combined with any other television station. The Jakarta Globe’s report provided misleading information to the public, which must be clarified. Moreover, the news report in question also mentioned the possibility of “layoffs,” which has caused some restlessness on the part of ANTV’s employees. In addition, I was not contacted by the reporter who wrote the report, although he did contact deputy editor in chief Uni Lubis who gave the reporter my contact information. Uni Lubis asked the reporter to contact me as head of corporate communications. But he did not contact me.
