Hi Bjorn,
Those weren't the ones I was thinking of, but they are
better. When I go "dumpster diving" for computer parts,
those are one of the things which I always pull out and
save. So far I have been lucky and they have worked, even
when the voltage has been a bit down.
I suggested the kind which is simply a battery holder
for 4 AA cells and which has a computer plug attached.
These are usually cheaper. The lithium ones with the plug
are usually (at least around here) a bit pricy.

I think those have a pretty long shelf life, but it is
always better to store batteries in a cold place.
Basically the colder the better, but DO NOT FREEZE. The
temperature at which a battery freezes is probably lower
than water, even if that is what is used in some of them,
but if the battery freezes, it will be ruined. The
refrigerator is the safest place to store batteries.
Cheers,
Ole Juul
