Thank you!  Up to now I hadn't been that concerned about the dangers
of working as root; I've tried several different installs of Red Hat
5.0 to see what works best -- yet now I should begin to practice better user
habits.  I wasn't aware of Pine's caution, for the reasons you mention, of
the user-id side of my email address and root-user style...

I've done this before and will promptly do so again.
