I believe it was CNN who reported that Microsoft is investigating
several used computer chains (including Computer Renaissance) for
selling computers with Windows 95 installed without properly licensing
it. If you purchased a used box from such a place with any Microsoft
installed, but did not get the manuals or the installation disks for the
software, you may have unlicensed software. Your name on a customer list in
such an investigation might get you involved in a mess. Microsoft's
lawyers are anal about leaving no stone unturned.
