I had an older WD HD that would not auto detect.  I was having other
troubles with the bios too, However.  I did get another newer Seagate drive
to auto detect, so I think the WD drive was just too old to be auto
detected, possibly.

Survpc is a good place to ask.  I can look up many older drives in a book I
have.

I have heard that low leveling am IDE HD is a bad thing....don't know why.
I am not familiar with Disk Manager either.

I believe it is a limit in some bios in 386's.
