Hmm, on UnderNet (granted I haven't been on IRC for the last 2 years) if I
was a registered op in a chanel (or voice) I could always send the command
to the bots that would give me my status. Thereby I could come with
whatever name I choosed (but I never did). With registered nicks people
will only get upset when they see "NICK IS ALREADY REGISTERED! Change nick
in 30 seconds!" I know I was.
You could also put a bot on IRC if you have access to a shell with those
rights, and it would be easier since you then can change the bot to your
own liking.
But I can see a point in it, like I had (yeah, don't everyone laugh at once
now) a girlfriend that I met over IRC, but after loosing her phone number
(shouldn't have done that) I never managed to get a hold of her over the
Net since it was a rather common nick (here in Sweden).
