Good, bad or indifferent -- it doesn't really matter. Your network
is going to crawl with serial links. Any chance of using parallel
cables?
If you are stuck with serial, you should have a look at TCP/IP.
There's a freeware packetdriver (SLIP) that installs on DOS
machines. Then, all you need are programs that use the packetdriver
(such as NCSA Telnet, SOSS or Arachne). This could be pretty useful,
particularly if you can install Linux on one of the computers.
