heh. but they ARE printed on the back of MY 2400 modem (ext. serial) for
the laptop <BEG> Just where any sane manufacturer ought to put them!
My problem is I don't know enough about the terms to know what they
do. There is a Fn n=0 online local echo on n=1 toggle off. would the
"online local echo" be related?

I like that idea, it might be the solution. Gotta be something that
talkworks can direct to, perhaps on dialing "9" as an extension.

Nope, sadly, this is part of why I need to access home, the modem on the
laptop is too slow to be accepted by any of the local ISP's For awhile it
was looking like I'd be able to run a remote control and actually serve
myself the net via dumb terminal on the laptop, accessing the main
machine's calculating power to run the software, using the laptop as a
remote control. Woulda been cool, but hard to say if it will work with
talkworks.
