I think the suggestions were to use Yahoo's POP3/SMTP-based email. Was
that what you tried, or did you only try the Web-based access? The
POP3/SMTP stuff is perfectly normal, except for a little one-line ad at
the bottom of each message you write. Only constraint I can see is that
you need to get through the Webpage to set up the email account in the
first place, which is kind of a pain. But once it's set up, it should
be fine.
