Bernie,

It may just be that your motherboard simply won't accept them in the
configuration you have them in. My Soyo 486 mobo documentation has a
chart of acceptable combination of SIMMs in the 4 available slots and
not all combinations are available. Usually if the combination is
unacceptable only part of the installed RAM is visible or recognized.
