No no no, noone I talked to liked those keyborads. And every time I was in
that room several people would complain about the keyboard. The only people
who didn't seem to complain were those that didn't use it at all. (You have
seen the computer users that automatically go for the mouse and never touch
the keyboard haven't you?
And the teachers hated them, I even saw a paper that the computer
department (together with Ericsson IIRC) had specifically said that they
didn't want Gateway computers when they ordered becuase of the keyboard.
Instead they bought Dell machines with monitors that often don't work <g>
(if you unplug the power cord and insert it again they'll work).
And it's not like I take out the windows keys (not even on the gateway
keyboards) despite that I would really really like to do that so people who
have used a computer for a longer period of time also can use them
efficiently (besides the win-key is Ctrl-Esc anyway). But there's one
keyboard in the entire school (except those on the Macs) that doesn't have
win-keys. Needless to say I very often go there.
And what is the diffrence between that someone might have learned a
specific keyboard with more buttons and me that also have learnt on a
specific keyboard - namely the standard AT keyboard? (Well actually I
didn't learn on this since my first computer was a laptop but once I got a
"real" computer it had an AT keyboard).
The entire fault came with that specific multi-billionaire you mentioned
since he added three buttons to the keyboards that are IMNSHO only in the
way for efficient work.
