Imagine those who only have the computer, knows a bit about DOS and use it to get
influence over other people, that know very little about computers, but a lot of other
things and then all of a sudden the software changes and their knowledge is not needed
by anyone anymore. Telling them that a computer must be fun to use is a slap in
the face.
I know one of those, once he told me waht a fantastic and wonderful thing DOS was, it
was when I hardly could see the difference between a computer and a baking
machine (it is not a joke), but I misunderstood him. I was supposed to be only
impressed, in stead I started finding out what I could use the computer for and how,
including
DOS. Now he hardly talks to me, hates DOS, tries to keep his "costumers" from trying
new software and sends all Macintosh problems to me, knowing that I do not know
anything about Macintoshes. The best thing he did, was to give me a copy of OS/2, he
did not like the interface (=did not understand how to keep the launchpad from
being on top, I rightklicked on launchpad, choose properties and am happy with OS/2
ever since).
I also bought the computer as a better kind of a typewriter, but since then I found
that I can use for almost anything, especialy playing and finding music. I have not
used it
for finding plants, I mainly collect old garden plants and they can be found on
abandoned farms, whose owners long ago left for America.
Anyway, I agree on the fun thing and I enjoy changing the loks of GUI's very much and
I am bored by all the complaints about them. One picture says more than a
thousand words, to hard to get that without a GUI.
