hi all, I tried following mostly Glenn McCorkle's advice
I forgot to tell everyone that my zip drive is a *parallel port* drive; *NOT* SCSI!! I ended up with an entry in my *CONFIG.SYS* that reads: DEVICEHIGH or DEVICE C:\ZIPTOOLS\GUEST.EXE (: this upon boot-up resulted/results in a DOS/EMS386 lengthy/large error message which would/will not let me *even cold* reboot (: I can't get to the C:\> prompt (: my A: drive is faulty/(I guess dirty) so would not recognize the system disk I made using my laptop (: so unless I want to go out purchase then install a new floppy drive, my machine is out of commission (: I guess i'm lucky i have this Windows3.11 486 laptop that I can web and e-mail it's just I had been hoping to get my 386 running again with arachne albeit on zip disk(the HD on this got full of mostly spam downloaded then saved Arachne e-mail) (: thanks for all the help rendered the problem I mostly had mimicing Glenn's sys files was how to get boot-up to ignore my CD-ROM(and hence maybe giving arachne's packet driver enough room to load) without giving me that DOS/EMS386 large, lengthy, error message.. maybe this should have been done in the BIOS SETUP? well.. thanks anyway everybody... andy To unsubscribe from SURVPC send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe SURVPC in the body of the message.
